Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Bright Futures and a learning center?
Our
tutors will custom design a program
(at no additional
cost to you)
that is tailored directly to your child's needs, as opposed to a
learning center where students often meet with a tutor in a group of
2-4 other students. Additionally, tutors who work at Learning
Centers are typically not credentialed teachers.
While we will ask pertinent questions
during signup about your child and your tutoring needs,
we will not burden or pressure you
with long unnecessary sales pitches over the phone, involving
uncomfortable and demanding personal information gathering practices
that many Learning Centers are notorious for. Additionally,
we do not charge Signup or Assessment
Fees.
For the same cost as a learning center, or in most cases less than a
learning center, our tutors come directly to you, making it easier
on your busy schedule. With Bright Futures, you can be confident
that your child will receive individualized instruction that
addresses his or her specific needs.
In most learning center
formats, students are grouped together with other students and do
not receive one on one focused instruction. While students enjoy the
social aspects of this format, it often overlooks the primary
purpose of the learning environment.
We take a personal, proactive
approach, and
are ready to do whatever we can to ensure academic progress is
achieved. We will also meet directly with your child's teacher, if
necessary, to be sure your child is on the right track.

How does Bright Futures compare to other
Tutoring Services?
Many of the tutoring services that dominate the search engines do
not provide the same level of customer service and personal touch that we
provide. You will often find that these companies do not return your calls,
or they will give you sales pitches and schemes involving hidden fee
structures and hassles. We have no hidden fees or hassles, and we listen to
your needs. We will tell you up front what it's going to cost you, and the
only cost you have with Bright Futures is the hourly rate for hours that are
actually tutored. Also, we aim to make the signup process easy and flexible.
Another factor is the reality that many of
these companies hire their tutors without even personally meeting them or
interviewing them. This is not the case with Bright Futures. We have
met and interviewed our tutors in person and assure you that the tutor we
assign to you has met our high standards. Our tutors are credentialed and
qualified to tutor your student. |
Do you have a program that will prepare my
child for college?
We have an intensified program for college bound students. This is a rigorous
course which prepares students for the SAT test, and gets them ready for
college level classes and demands. Our college prep course is a tool that
will give your aspiring college
student the skills needed to not only get into a good college, but to excel
once there! Ask about our special rates for this program.
|
Do you provide any
type of assessment tests for my child?
If so, how much will it cost?
During the initial phone conversation, we will discuss specific challenges
and give a free informal assessment in preparation for focused tutoring. If
needed, arrangements can be made for a more in depth assessment as part of
the first
tutoring session.
|
Where does tutoring
take place?
Tutoring takes place in the convenience of your home. Your assigned tutor will come to you at your convenience,
and around your busy schedule. We require that a parent or
guardian over the age of 21 be at home for the entire tutoring session.
Tutoring can also be conducted in your local library, if that works out
better, or any neutral meeting place such as
McDonalds, Borders Bookstore, etc. Another alternative is to meet online
with the tutor,
via
remote desktop sharing.
|
What are the
qualifications of your tutors?
Our tutors are credentialed teachers, private school teachers, former
teachers, and
substitute teachers. We check all references, conduct background
checks, and personally
take every tutor through a thorough interviewing process. Tutors are selected based on personality,
ability,
enthusiasm, references, teaching experience, and applicable degrees and
credentials.
|
What if my child
doesn't like the tutor?
If you do not think the tutor is a
good match with your child after the first session, or there was a specific
issue, then arrangements will be made for another tutor, unless you choose
to not continue services with Bright Futures.
Either way the rate for the first session will be discounted.
|
Do I have to sign a
contract? How long is each session?
Yes we have a basic contract for you to sign before beginning tutoring. The
contract does not require a commitment as far as the number of sessions ,
but we recommend a
minimum of four sessions in order to be able to measure progress. The minimum amount of
time for each session is one hour.
|
Do your tutors have
experience working with special needs children?
Yes, many of our tutors hold special education teaching credentials, and will be able to work
in conjunction with your school's I.E.P. guidelines to help your child.
|
Do you assist families with homeschooling?
Yes. We can provide a credentialed tutor in order to assist you with your
homeschool curriculum. We can also refer you to homeschool support
groups and networks in your area.
|
I need a tutor right
away. How long is the registration process?
After signing up with Bright Futures, your tutor will contact you within 24
hours to set up the first appointment. We will do everything we can to meet
your needs as soon as possible.
We do not charge signup fees.
|
What are your rates?

most. The rate will vary slightly, depending on specific tutor arrangements,
availability, and the subjects being tutored. Please contact us for more info. (Our rates are lower than any Learning Center
that we know of.)
|
